The church began meeting in North Watford in 1924 as an International Holiness Mission, and a lot has changed over the years. However, one thing has remained consistent: a focus on helping people live in love for the Kingdom of God.
Today there are two Nazarene churches in Watford: Woodside Community Church of the Nazarene, which is located in the Leavesden Green area of Watford (and this website is the home of the Woodside Church). And The North Watford Church of the Nazarene (the original church) which is situated nearer the town in North Watford and today serves primarily the Portuguese speaking community.
Whichever location our people represent a rich diversity of ethnic, educational and socio-economic backgrounds and you will find a warm welcome awaits you there.
You can learn more about Woodside by checking out our Beliefs, our History, and our Ministries.
More ABOUT The Church of the Nazarene in Watford:
The Woodside Community Church of the Nazarene (WCCN) is the larger of the two churches and the rest of this website is about WCCN. We have a full and diverse church and community programme throughout the week, with activities for all ages. These include our Sunday Worship, A weekly prayer meeting and Bible Study (known as Oasis), Community Cafe, activities for children and young people, and various other events.
As mentioned above, this website is primarily concerned with the ministry of Woodside church but we have included information about North Watford to be helpful since we often get questions about them. They are, however, operated independently from Woodside and you should refer to their contact information for further help. All news and events posted on this site refer to Woodside Community Church.
The North Watford Church is home of the original church building from 1924 and has been used in worship and praise ever since that time. It is now home to our Portuguese speaking Nazarene church led by Pastors Jose and Marcia, with meetings taking place on Sunday mornings (currently 11am) and other special occasions. The services are conducted in Portuguese with dual language available for English speakers and, of course, everyone is very warmly welcomed.
